brian jamison

undergraduate researcher (2025-2026)

Brian graduated from the University of Miami in the spring of 2026 with a degree in Marine Biology & Ecology and an additional major in Geography & Sustainable Development. He is currently in graduate school at Savannah State University pursuing a master’s degree in marine science. 

His research interests are in population genetics; particularly in research involving genetic connectivity between populations and the conservation implications that are associated with that.

In the Coleman Lab, Brian studied hybridization in two Indo-Pacific wrasse species, the Saddle wrasse (Thalassoma duperry) and the Sunset wrasse (Thalassoma lutescens).

 
 

ben morris

undergraduate researcher (2025-2026)

Ben recently graduated from the University of Miami in the Spring of 2026. with a bachelor's degree in Marine Affairs, and minors in Ecosystem Science and Policy and Psychology. His long term plan is to enroll into law school.

His scientific interests include environmental and marine conservation, as well as environmental and maritime law/policy. In the Fish Ecology and Evolution Lab, he assisted with DNA extractions and quantifications, along with agarose gel electrophoresis, as well as ddRAD library prep. 

 
 

jj hughes

undergraduate researcher (2025-2026)

JJ’s senior thesis focused on characterizing the distribution of feeding modes across the Florida Reef Tract. He received his BS in Marine Biology and Ecology in spring 2026.
