Photo: Damselfish swimming in a coral head in the Red Sea (Saudi Arabia). Damselfish use the coral head as refuge from transient mesopredators. However, predators are also found within the coral head (i.e. crabs, hawkfish) creating an interesting cost-benefit dynamic of staying in the coral head or swimming in the open for damselfish that utilize this habitat.  Photo credit: Tane Sinclair-Taylor
